Mojocon Fringe Events

Since the beginning of Mojocon one of our key aims has been to facilitate the growing community of mojo professionals with an international event to meet, network and share stories. As that community continues to grow (we have over 2600 members of our Facebook Group) we have increasingly thought about ways of opening up the conference to a broader audience.

Mojocon is run on a not-for-profit basis by RTÉ. It receives no license fee subsidy or other direct financial support, instead the team that organise the event do so as an additional responsibility to their core functions in RTE. The sponsors, exhibitors and delegates are the ones who actually cover the core cost of the event and as a result the ticket prices are at a premium, albeit in line with other international journalism and media conferences. Sponsorship, Exhibitors and Tickets account for approximately 50:25:25 revenue.

We have heard on a few occasions that a small number of members public and students feel somewhat disenfranchised by the ticket costs, indeed even some freelancers have expressed a concern. We would love to be able offer cheaper tickets and attract more delegates but that is not an option unfortunately. The bottom line is we cannot lower the ticket price or the event will not cover its costs and will not be sustainable.  However we can take advantage of the gathering of the global mojo community to share the essence of the event to a broader audience.

So this year with the generous support of our speakers we are introducing Mojocon Fringe, a series of evening events, run is association with partner organisations in Galway, to bring mojo to a broader community.

Our partners are:
-National University of Ireland, Galway (NUIG)
-Galway Mayo Institute of Technology (GMIT)
-Galway Film Centre (GFC)
-Learning Waves Skillsnet
-Greasan na Meain Skillsnet
-Bank Of Ireland StartLab

Each partner will host a fringe event on the evening of either Thursday 4th or Friday 5th May.

Mojocon registered delegates can access ALL fringe events at no cost.

Registration (if applicable) for the fringe events will be handled directly by the partner organisation.

The hashtag for the events will be #mojoconfringe
